We met in the spring of 2023, not knowing that we would fall for each other so quickly.
After dating for a while, we became official on May 22, 2023, which happened to be Victoria Day.
An Unforgettable Trip
I asked Harold if he’d like to visit Alberta, and he readily agreed. I admired that he’s a man of his word, and true to his promise, we took the trip early in our relationship. I chose to go with him because, in the short time I’d known him, I could see he was a genuinely good person—and I wasn’t mistaken.
Our relationship wasn’t always easy. Every time we faced challenges, we chose to stick together and work things out.
The Proposal
On May 19, 2024, just a few days before our anniversary, Harold surprised me with the news that we were going to Ottawa. Little did he know, just two days earlier, I had prayed that if he was the right one for me, he would propose during our trip.
As the day in Ottawa went on and the sun began to set, I started to worry that he might not propose. I nearly lost hope and began to question if he was the right one for me. But then, just half an hour later, he asked me to marry him—and in that moment, I knew we were meant to be together.
